About this collection

Freshly roasted whole bean coffee from Nepal's Himalayan foothills

Nepal's terraced hills have grown exceptional coffee for years, but the origin has stayed largely unseen. Himalaya Coffee Company exists to change that. Our Kavre Medium Roast is grown at 1,400 m in Kavrepalanchok and washed for a clean, clear cup. Every lot is traceable by origin, altitude and process.

Our small batch roasted coffee beans are roasted for clarity and freshness, then sold whole, so the aroma stays locked in until you grind. We're backed by KL Dugar Group, a Nepalese business with 131+ years of legacy, and we ship to coffee lovers in 30+ countries.

Best coffee beans for your brew method

Whole beans let you grind for the way you brew, whether you want coffee beans for espresso, coffee beans for pour over, coffee beans for French press or coffee beans for cold brew. These are starting recipes from our coffee team for Kavre Medium Roast. Adjust the grind to taste.

Method Grind Recipe What you'll taste
Coffee beans for espresso Fine 18 g in, 36 g out, 28-32 sec, 93°C Concentrated chocolate and caramel
Coffee beans for pour over Medium-fine 20 g coffee, 320 g water, 94°C, 3-3œ min Clarity and a gentle citrus lift
Coffee beans for French press Coarse 20 g coffee, 320 ml water, 94°C, 4 min Fuller, rounder body
Coffee beans for cold brew Coarse 60 g coffee, 600 ml water, 12 hrs in the fridge Smooth, sweet and easy to drink

How to brew the perfect cup with whole bean coffee

  1. Grind just before brewing. Whole beans keep their aroma far longer than pre-ground coffee.
  2. Weigh your coffee and water. A kitchen scale is the easiest upgrade you can make.
  3. Use water at about 93-94°C (199-201°F). That is just off the boil.
  4. Taste, then adjust the grind. If the cup tastes bitter or dry, grind coarser. If it tastes sour or thin, grind finer.

Prefer to skip the grinder? We also sell ground coffee, and the Himalayan Coffee Ritual Gift Hamper makes an easy gift.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best whole bean coffee brands to buy online?
Look for single-origin Arabica, traceable lots, small-batch roasting and whole beans you grind yourself. Himalaya Coffee Company offers all four. Kavre Medium Roast and Sindhupalchowk Light Roast are specialty-grade Nepali Arabica, roasted in small batches and shipped worldwide, so you can try a new origin without compromising on quality.
What makes a coffee “tastefully roasted”?
A well-roasted coffee lets the bean’s origin come through instead of masking it with burnt or smoky flavors. Our medium-roast Kavre leads with chocolate and caramel and finishes clean. Our light-roast Sindhupalchowk keeps its lime brightness and brown-sugar sweetness. Both are roasted to highlight the origin, not hide it.
How do I brew the perfect cup with whole bean coffee?
Grind just before brewing, weigh your coffee and water, and use water at about 93-94°C (199-201°F). A good starting ratio for pour over or French press is 20 g of coffee to 320 ml of water. If the cup tastes bitter or dry, grind coarser. If it tastes sour or thin, grind finer.
What are the best espresso beans online?
Choose beans with enough sweetness and body to balance espresso’s intensity. Kavre Medium Roast is our espresso pick, with chocolate, caramel and a gentle citrus lift. Start with 18 g in and 36 g out in 28-32 seconds at 93°C. Go coarser if it tastes bitter, or finer if it tastes thin or sharp.
Which coffee beans are best for cold brew?
Kavre Medium Roast suits cold brew, keeping its chocolate and caramel sweetness smooth. Combine 60 g of coarse-ground coffee with 600 ml of room-temperature water, steep covered in the fridge for 12 hours, then filter well. Serve over ice, neat or diluted.
Which beans are best for pour over and French press?
Kavre Medium Roast works well for both. A coarse grind and a 4-minute steep bring out its fuller, rounder body in a French press. A medium-fine grind gives pour over more clarity. If you like brighter, fruitier cups, try Sindhupalchowk Light Roast as a pour over.
What does “small-batch roasted” mean, and why does it matter?
Small-batch roasting means coffee is roasted in limited quantities rather than large industrial runs. That gives the roaster more control over flavor and freshness. At Himalaya Coffee Company we roast in small batches for clarity and freshness, and every lot is traceable by origin, altitude and process.
What are the health benefits of drinking whole bean coffee?
Coffee contains antioxidants, and research links moderate intake to health benefits for many adults. The FDA says up to about 400 mg of caffeine a day, roughly four to five cups, is generally not associated with negative effects in healthy adults. Needs vary, so check with your doctor if you’re pregnant or on medication.
Why choose Nepali coffee for brewing at home?
Nepali specialty Arabica offers a distinctive flavor identity and a traceable story. Our Kavre lot is grown at 1,400 m and washed for a clean cup, while Sindhupalchowk offers a brighter profile. Whole beans let you grind fresh for any method at home, from French press to espresso.
How should I store whole bean coffee?
Keep the bag sealed, or use an airtight container, in a cool, dry place away from heat, moisture and sunlight. Grind only what you need for each brew. You don’t need to refrigerate the beans for everyday use.
How long does shipping to the US take, and what does it cost?
Orders usually dispatch within 1-2 working days. International delivery averages 5-14 working days after dispatch, as an estimate rather than a guarantee. Shipping cost is calculated at checkout based on destination and weight. Import duties and taxes are the recipient’s responsibility unless checkout says otherwise.
Do you offer bulk, wholesale or private label coffee beans?
Yes. We work with roasters, cafés, distributors and brands on green beans, roasted beans and private-label or white-label programs, with custom roast profiles and NDA protection when needed. MOQs vary by lot. Request a trade sample on our Partner With Us page and our team will arrange pricing and logistics.
